London, 24 August 2006 – Piczo (www.piczo.com), a social networking site for teenagers worldwide, today announces the ramping up of its UK operation. The move reflects the significance of its user base in the UK and indicates Piczo's commitment to further strengthening the company's footprint in the UK and Europe

Launched in 2004 through an initial 100 emails sent to potential users, Piczo now boasts 10 million unique visitors per month. According to Media Metrix's July report, Piczo has more unique users than YouTube and Faceparty and Bebo in the UK. In addition, 4 million young people in the UK visited Piczo last month, which represents 60% share of the UK teen demographic and the company sees further growth potential in the market.

Jeremy Verba, CEO of Piczo comments: "The Piczo model is clearly one which appeals to UK teens given the high proportion of this audience already using our site. It is also a model that is increasingly attractive to advertisers who are scrambling for ways to respond to the decline in mass media consumption by the young teen demographic. Already Piczo is offering advertisers, such as film and music distributors, a range of solutions to the challenge of engaging this traditionally hard-to-reach segment.

"While Piczo's success to date has been built predominately on word of mouth, today's announcement signals a step change for us. Going forward, we aim to expand our existing advertising and marketing relationships, and establish our presence in the UK with the appointment of an experienced senior management team."

Tailored to appeal to teenagers across the world, Piczo users are typically 13 to16 years old. The site provides an environment that gives these young teens direct control over how they express themselves online. By excluding user search, Piczo's walled garden approach makes it a safer and more socially engaging place for young people to build more meaningful relationships with friends.

From its beginnings as one of the most user-friendly online photo communities, Piczo now allows its users to create comprehensive personal websites that do not require any understanding of html code. The sites are designed with multiple pages featuring graphics, text, guest books, comment boards and music. Users can post photos online for friends to view, leave shout outs, and share their life stories online. Each site can be linked to other friends' sites and users can interact with them and their friends, and meet new people online.
