A black man walks into a cafe early one morning and notices he's the only black person in there.
When he sat down a white man who was sat behind him said "coloured people aren't allowed in here."
The black man replied:
"when i was born i was black
when i grew up i was black
when i'm sick i'm black
when i get sunburnt i'm black
when i'm cold i'm black
and when i die i'll still be black
but you sir...
When you were born you were pink
when you're sick you're green
when you're sunburnt you go red
when you are cold you go blue
and when you die you turn purple"
"and yet you have the nerve to call me coloured!"
The black man turned back round and the white man walked away. Why would you be racist.. does it do anything for you? Does it make people like you better? Probably not. If anything, you’re going to lose friends. Nobody wants racism. What’s the point of it. To make people feel bad, because that’s all it does. Does it make you feel good to make fun of people? If that’s the case, you need to think. How would you feel if people made fun of you when you went out places. Probably not good right? Well that’s how people feel when you make fun of them for their color, or nationality.
People have been trying to get this message across for a very long time now. Why can’t people just listen, think about it, there’s no point in doing it. Why can’t you just stop. It’s not nice. Why would you want to sit there and say “Haha look at that person they have a different skin color.. they’re not the same as me or they’re not the same as some other people that might be around.” But if you really thought about it.. nobody is the same.. we are all individuals and we are all different in our own ways. Nobody, absolutely nobody, is the same. You may think my best friend and I are the same, we both like all the same things... but you’re not. It is impossible, and even if it wasn’t why would you want to be the same as someone else. Everyone is unique and that is a good thing.
There are many different nationalities in the world, and every different one does things their own way. Why is that so wrong? Why do people insist on making fun of them? It’s not their fault they are that nationality. It’s nobody’s fault.. because it’s not a fault.. A person should be happy to be born the whatever nationality they are, whatever color they are, anything and everything about a person can be made fun of.. but why do people have to be like that? Why can’t you just like them for who they are. That’s what I do. That’s what a lot of people do. Why can’t everyone?
Racism is taught. If you are racist.. there is a good chance your kids will be too, because your kids are around you enough that they will take after you. They learn from you. Can’t you get to know people before you judge them. It would make the world an easier place for everyone. As they say, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover, and you can’t judge a person by the color of their skin either. It’s just not right.
Give everyone a chance. It’s not like it’s hurting you to like more people and have more friends. And think. There is so many nationalities in this world. Imagine even having friends from –let’s say- one quarter of the nationalities.. you would have the most friends out of anyone you know. So don’t go around laughing and making fun of people. Give everyone an equal chance and think of how much better everything around you would be.
